Application and guidelines for October closed.

Madison Weavers Guild invites you to apply for the October Fine Art and Craft Sale.  This is a juried show. No food or personal beauty products are allowed.

CALENDAR

April 25, 2023 - Application due WITH JURY FEE and digital images (emailed)

May 16, 2023 - Artist notification of jury acceptance, Booth Fee Invoices e-mailed

June 30, 2023 - Booth Fee due upon receipt of Invoice; checks deposited on July 31, 2023

Oct. 27, 2023 - Set Up 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm

Oct. 28, 2023 - Set Up 7:00 am – 9:30 am, Sale begins 10:00 am, closes 4:00 pm

Oct. 29, 2023 - Art Fair 8:00 am – 9:30 am Artist Breakfast Social; Sale begins 10:00 am closes 4:00 pm

Oct. 29, 2023 - Take down 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

 

LOCATION

Olbrich Botanical Gardens, 3330 Atwood Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin.  Olbrich features award-winning gardens, Conservatory, and a Learning Center on Madison’s near East Side. The gardens attract thousands of visitors each year from all over the world.  It is a fabulous setting for an art fair.   All booths are located on the main floor.

 

FEES

Jury fee for artists: $25.00, non-refundable, check payable to Madison Handweavers

Jury fee for MWG members only; $15.00, non-refundable, check payable to Madison Handweavers

Booths are 6 ft deep or 8 ft. deep, depending on location - see application form.

 

ELIGIBILITY FOR APPLICATION

Participation is open to all artists 18 years and older whose work is in art and/or fine craft.  All work must be the artist’s own and original in concept, design and execution.  Artwork using commercial kits, molds, patterns, plans, stencils, or prefabricated forms will not be accepted. Artist MUST be present at the event.  Artists are responsible for their own insurance policy for damage and liability.  We recommend artists have their own insurance policy.  Olbrich Gardens is governed in part by of the City of Madison; we are bound to abide by their rules for use of the building.

 

Once accepted you are considered to have made a commitment to exhibit.  Your entry fee will not be refunded if you cancel.  Anyone not able to exhibit due to an emergency must notify the show coordinator immediately.  Early pack-up and removal is not acceptable.  Booth spaces are non-transferrable.

 

SALES TAX

Each exhibitor is required to collect and pay the 5.5% sales tax to Wisconsin/Dane County.  A Wisconsin Sellers Permit number and information will be required of applying artists to be form will be sent via e-mail with your invoice to be returned with your booth fee payment.  As the show promoter, we are REQUIRED to submit a tax resale number or last 4 digits of your Social Security or EIN number for each artists along with contact information.

 

JURY PROCESS

Fine Art and Craft Sale is a juried show.  A jury committee will be responsible for selecting artists based on craftsmanship, originality, uniqueness, creativity, presentation and balance of work.

 

Please submit 4 digital images that represent the scope of your current work plus 1 image of your booth/display by e-mail.  Please label your images with last name, first name, number and item.  An example would be Smith,Ann 1 Scarf; Smith,Ann 2 Shawl and image 5 of your booth, Smith, Ann 5 Booth

PUBLICITY

The Fine Art and Craft Sale will be advertised on various digital media and print including Fine Art and Craft Sale and Madison Weavers Guild websites, community calendars and publications.  We sponsor public service announcements on Wisconsin Public Radio.  Postcards are mailed to customers on our extensive mailing list and are available for your own mailings.  Social media formats of the postcard are available to use for your e-mail and social media listings.
